PHILADELPHIA, May 25, 2012 – Inspired by its current production of “Robin Hood,” Arden Theatre Company in partnership with Christ Church will collect children’s items on Saturday, June 2, from those who have – new and nearly new items that don’t fit anymore, have fallen out of favor, or simply were never used, and provide them to Cradles to Crayons, whose more than 300 social service agency partners will redistribute them to disadvantaged children in the five-county southeastern Pennsylvania area who don’t have.

 

The Old City Community Collection Day will provide local residents an easy and convenient opportunity to clean out their closets (it’s still Spring Cleaning time!) and donate items their children have outgrown or no longer use – enabling them to be recycled and reused by area children, from birth to age 12, in homeless and/or low-income families.

 

All are invited to Christ Church on June 2 between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. for a garden party to help sort the donations and create birthday bags. They will be delivered by local haul-out and removal company 1-800-HAUL-OUT to Cradles to Crayons’ West Conshohocken warehouse, where they’ll be inspected, cleaned, and then prepared in personalized KidPacks – a seven-day supply of everyday essentials, including clothing, footwear, infant safety equipment and books.

 

Donations can be brought to Christ Church, 20 N. American Street, on June 2, between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m., or to any family performance of “Robin Hood” at the Arden Theatre, 40 N. Second Street, now through June 24. Brightly decorated Cradles to Crayons’ collection containers will be available at both locations. Donations can also be made anytime at Silicon Gallery Fine Art Prints, 139 North 3rd Street.
