Gear Up for Baby

Nearly two-thirds of babies and toddlers in Philadelphia live in neighborhoods of concentrated poverty.

Infancy and toddlerhood are periods of rapid physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.

Improving the well-being of young children is one of the most important investments a community can make.

1 in 3 Families Experience Diaper Insecurity

Raising a child is expensive. Even before the pandemic, 1 in 3 families with young children faced diaper need. Since March 2020, Cradles to Crayons has seen diaper need increase more than 300%.

The average family spends $70-$80 per month on diapers – per child. There are no state or federal benefits to help parents buy diapers. A 2017 study found 57% of parents experiencing diaper need missed work or school in the past month because they didn’t have enough diapers to drop their child off at daycare.

In addition to diapers, our Gear Up for Baby program supplies clothing, onesies, bibs, hygiene kits, baby books, and more. When you support Gear Up For Baby, you’re helping a local family provide the essentials their child needs to thrive.

Through our partnership with Cuties® and Gear Up for Baby Presenting Sponsor, First Quality Consumer Products, we are highlighting diaper need and the surrounding issues of poverty which affect the well-being and healthy development of infants and toddlers we serve. A portion of the proceeds from every sale of Cuties diapers will be donated to Cradles to Crayons.

You can support this critical initiative with your Cuties diapers purchases, by donating directly to our Gear Up for Baby program, or by participating on one of the options below.
