Giving Factory @ Home
Giving Factory @ Home
Make a difference in a child’s life from the comfort of your home! The COVID-19 crisis exacerbated the need for essential items for families in homeless and low-income situations, and with high inflation rates and the arrival of families seeking refuge in Massachusetts, the need remains great. While The Giving Factory welcomes in-person volunteers, we are excited to continue offering remote volunteer opportunities through Giving Factory @Home so families, groups, and individuals can support our mission from anywhere.
Through Giving Factory @ Home, you and your family can have an impactful volunteer experience. You’ll collect and sort donations through a series of activities that replicate the volunteer stations we would normally facilitate in our Giving Factory. Giving Factory @ Home cycles through different volunteer activities based on where we have the greatest need, and each of them is extremely helpful to our mission. If you would like to participate, please sign up with our form below!
After signing up for Giving Factory @ Home, you will be contacted by a Community Engagement Coordinator who will guide you through your activity. They will also schedule a time for you to pick up the supplies you need from our Giving Factory in Newton (281 Newtonville Avenue). We will provide all the support, supplies, and instructions necessary to complete your activity with ease.
Steps to Participate:
- Source your donations: Time to take to your closets or your community and collect clothing.
- Sort your donations: Use the supplies picked up from The Giving Factory and follow the sorting directions you received at that time.
- Return to The Giving Factory: Bring your donations back to The Giving Factory and drop them off in one of the two white donation bins in front of the building.
Bonus: Celebrate! You just helped Cradles to Crayons mitigate clothing insecurity right here in Massachusetts! Don’t forget to give yourself a pat on the back and share your experience with us and others by posting your efforts on social media and tagging us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or LinkedIn.

These activities do not require visiting The Giving Factory. They consist of collecting, sorting, and packaging donations that you’ve collected in your home or purchased.
