Katherine Amoro, of Arlington, has been hired to the Boston site of Cradles to Crayons as its director of major gifts.

The nonprofit organization equips children from birth through age 12 who live in homeless or low-income situations with the essential items they need to thrive. The addition Amoro designed to help Cradles to Crayons advance its mission and support more children and families across the commonwealth.

In her role as director of major gifts, Amoro will manage Cradles to Crayons’ Individual and Family Philanthropy Program. She joins Cradles to Crayons with an extensive background in philanthropy. An accomplished development professional, she held various development positions throughout her 17 years with Rosie’s Place, a women’s shelter providing a safe and nurturing environment for low-income and homeless women. In her most recent role as development officer, Amoro managed all fundraising, promotions, planning and logistics for organization events and activations.

Cradles to Crayons announced Amoro’s hiring along with the announcement of another hire, Marguerite Dowd as director of operations.
