Cradles to Crayons® is proud to announce two new hires at its Boston site. Katherine Amoro joins as Director of Major Gifts and Marguerite Dowd as the new Director of Operations. The nonprofit organization equips children from birth through age 12 who live in homeless or low-income situations with the essential items they need to thrive. The addition of these experienced professionals is designed to help Cradles to Crayons advance its mission and support more children and families across the Commonwealth.

In her role as Director of Major Gifts, Amoro will manage Cradles to Crayons’ Individual and Family Philanthropy Program. She joins Cradles to Crayons with an extensive background in philanthropy. An accomplished development professional, she held various development positions throughout her 17 years with Rosie’s Place, a women’s shelter providing a safe and nurturing environment for low-income and homeless women. In her most recent role as Development Officer, Amoro managed all fundraising, promotions, planning, and logistics for organization events and activations.

Watertown resident Marguerite Dowd is a seasoned executive with a decade of leadership and management experience. With several years of experience as a volunteer with Cradles to Crayons, she is well-versed in the operations of the organization and brings a wealth of knowledge and skill to her role. Most recently, she served as the Director of Community Engagement and Administration at Temple Beth Shalom where she led the daily operations and programming for Member Relations, Development, Adult Learning, Communications, and Community Engagement departments. Prior to working with Temple Beth Shalom, Dowd held several positions in the academic field.

“We are thrilled to welcome Katherine and Marguerite to our leadership team,” said Lynn Margherio, Founder and CEO of Cradles to Crayons.  “We are confident their experience and abilities will enhance our success and ability to pursue our mission.”
