FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When is Cradles to Crayons relocating?

From mid-April through August, there will be limited public access due to ongoing construction. The new location will be fully open to the public in Fall 2022.

Where will the new Giving Factory be located?

C2C’s Giving Factory will now be located at 2500 W. Bradley Place in Chicago’s North Center

When will the new location open?

For the first few months after the relocation, C2C staff will be working diligently to prepare the new space to welcome volunteers and donation drop-offs. The Giving Factory will be fully open as a donation drop-off immediately after moving in on March 28. We will be able to host limited volunteer groups in mid-June.

Why is C2C relocating?

C2C’s current lease at The Giving Factory ends in March 2022, which presented us with the perfect moment to start thinking about growth opportunities. The new property offers substantial benefits to help advance our mission, including:

    • New partnerships with local businesses that help provide the essentials needed for childhood development and well-being more fully.
    • Cradles to Crayons volunteers and employees will be able to enjoy a sun-lit office with updated materials.
    • Additional location and building amenities include:
      • Rooftop space available for gatherings
      • More parking options
      • Easily accessible for those with disabilities
      • Gender-neutral/family bathrooms available
      • An up-to-date HVAC system
      • Heating and electricity costs less, making it more sustainable
How will this impact operations?

Through March 2022, we will distribute the remaining quality product to our Service Partners to serve as many kids as possible before we move. Starting in April, C2C will begin the process of setting up the new Giving Factory. Until we are fully ready to reopen in Fall 2022, supporters are encouraged to continue engaging with C2C through our Giving Factory @ Home, Giving Factory @ Work, and community initiatives.

What impact will this have on current volunteers?

The new Giving Factory is located a short 15-minute drive from its previous home in Logan Square, making for a smooth transition for existing volunteers and staff. Directions from the existing location, via car and public transit, are available here

What does success look like for C2C at this new location?

C2C is aiming to provide more than 200,000 packages of critical essentials to kids by the end of this fiscal year; success means receiving financial and physical donations as well as continued support from volunteers. In addition, C2C aims to host successful events to engage local community members as well as advocacy events with political leaders.

Who is designing the new location?

Eckenhoff Saunders has been chosen as the architectural design firm to bring our vision to life.

What is the construction timeline?

Construction will begin in February 2022 with the plan of completing the project by late Summer or early Fall 2022.

How can the public receive Cradles to Crayons relocation updates?

C2C will make a public announcement in mid-to-late March about the opening of the new Giving Factory to volunteers, product donations, informative tours, and product distribution to Service Partners.  Following along for regular updates on our website and social media is the best way to get the latest C2C news.

How to get involved?

C2C is seeking members of the community who would like to organize collections and pop-up Giving Factory events that will help us continue to serve Chicagoland kids during this time of transition. Additional information on volunteer guidelines and ways to get involved can be found here
