Give Back With A Winter Pack

Shop for a child’s brand-new winter items.

During our Gear Up for Winter initiative, we aim to serve 54,000 children with warm essential items. Cradles to Crayons receives thousands of requests for Winter Packs, and we receive amazing donations through our recycled model, but we don’t always have all of the right sizes at the right time. You can help provide our most-needed sizes by giving back with a Winter Pack

Here’s how:

  • Download your Winter Pack Tags! Use it as your shopping list for size-appropriate boots, hats, coats, and warm clothing for an individual child.

  • Shop with your children and talk about giving back. Add extra items to your shopping cart at your favorite retailer. Or make a Winter Pack using our Amazon Wish List here!
  • Challenge your co-workers to see who can find the cutest outfits to donate and help the most children.
  • Get your company involved and shop for multiple children with your office or team.
  • Deliver completed Winter Packs at one of our six drop-off locations around the city and suburbs in Buffalo Grove, Downers Grove, Highwood, Naperville, Logan Square, or South Side Chicago.

Each Winter Tag needs to be filled out and attached to a box/bag when they are dropped off!

Our social service partner shared a special story about a family who received one of our Winter Packs and wrote:

“The recent Winter KidPacks I ordered were some of the best. These kids don’t have much — most of them struggle all year to get what they need —they don’t have toys, newer clothes, or games. I don’t know how they do it, but each Winter Pack from Cradles to Crayons is highly personalized to the child. Some of our children cried when they opened their Winter KidPack. It made them so happy to receive something new or something they never had. And it was all theirs. The coats, shoes, and a book bag can be used for school instead of an unreliable drawstring bag.

“And snow boots… that was something many of them never had before. The kids expressed sincere gratitude for all the items, and the older brother who helps care for them was even happier. They all said thank you!” —Darrin Bolling, Parent Educator at ChildServ
