Leading nonprofit announces Jennifer Askjaer as Executive Director in Boston

(Boston, MA ─ October 29, 2018)- Cradles to Crayons® is proud to announce the hire of Jennifer Askjaer as Executive Director for the organization’s Boston site. The addition of this experienced professional and talented leader is designed to help Cradles to Crayons advance its mission of providing clothing and essential items to children living in low-income and poverty situations across the Commonwealth. 

“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead an organization that has made such a powerful impact on kids’ lives in Massachusetts,” said Askjaer. “Cradles to Crayons has an impressive and dedicated volunteer network, as well as the ability to provide kids with the essentials far and wide. I am honored to join the team and work with Lynn Margherio to develop new ways to reach more children who need our help the most.”  

Askjaer comes to Cradles to Crayons from her position as Principal and Co-Founder of SWELL, a company that advises clients on giving, employee engagement, and marketing strategies. Over the past five years, SWELL has served clients from small mental health nonprofits to large corporate foundations. Previously, she oversaw fundraising for the Taco Bell Foundation, developing national in-store campaigns that resulted in a 200% revenue increase. She has a B.S. in Advertising from Syracuse University; S.I. Newhouse School of Communications. She resides in Greater Boston with her husband and three children.

Cradles to Crayons also announces the hire of Shoshana Buchholtz-Miller as the Executive Director at its Chicago site. Buchholtz-Miller most recently worked as Vice President of Education and Exhibitions at the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center where she provided strategic leadership, planning, and evaluation for strategic initiatives and educational exhibitions.
