Adults (21+) are invited to celebrate the Giving Season in style with C2C craft cocktails, delicious appetizers and sweet treats, plus music, dancing, and exciting auction items – all in support of keeping kids warm this winter.
Guests of the Purple Party will enjoy exclusive access to bid on our most coveted packages during both live and silent auctions. All proceeds will benefit our Gear Up for Winter initiative, which provides coats and warm clothing to more than 35,000 local children. In addition to supporting our Gear Up for Winter initiative, join us in celebrating Executive Director, Michal Smith’s 15 years of leadership and service.

Our Signature Events
Un-Gala®
Our Gear Up for Winter signature event, Un-Gala®, is a two-part fundraiser celebration. Many children will struggle to stay warm this season in our harsh climate. The Gear Up for Winter initiative brings communities, companies and families together to provide children in need with warm winter essentials.
Un-Gala Family Day offers Family Leadership Circle members an opportunity to model philanthropy in action for their children. Gather with hundreds of other volunteers to sort and pack clothing, shoes, coats, hats, and more – essential items that bring warmth to thousands of children throughout the Greater Philadelphia region.
Un-Gala Purple Party is a more grown-up atmosphere with cocktails and a silent auction. Enjoy a fabulous night out for a great cause and help us keep kids warm.
Backpack-A-Thon®
Unlike their peers, kids from low-income or homeless families lack basic school supplies and clothing that provide them with a real chance to learn and succeed. In comes Backpack-A-Thon, Ready for Learning’s signature event that brings together more than 700 corporate volunteers to stuff thousands of backpacks with new school supplies. Our Service Partners pick up the backpacks and distribute them to local children before the school year starts, thus preparing them for success with a backpack full of learning tools that will have them feeling confident.
Our Backpack-A-Thons are high-energy events fueled by great spirit and friendly competition that will provide backpacks to children living in low-income or homeless situations in the Greater Philadelphia region, enabling them to arrive at school ready and excited to learn.
