C2C’s Gear Up for Baby Program Featured on WCVB-TV’s CityLine Program

April 18, 2014

Karen Holmes Ward, host of WCVB-TV’s award-winning urban news and feature magazine program CityLine, interviews C2C® Director of Development Julie Lima on the program’s Mother’s Day show. The theme of the show is “Caretakers,” focusing on local non-profits Rosie’s Place and Cradles to Crayons as well as the community focused work being done by Reverend Liz Walker.

Rosie’s Place has been empowering women to rebuild their lives for four decades. They celebrate their 40th anniversary this year, serving an estimated 12,000 women a year with housing and education services.

Following Rosie’s Place, the show’s focus shifts to the C2C Gear Up for Baby program and how buying basic essentials for young children can cause many area families financial strain. The Gear Up for Baby program works to provide local infants and toddlers living in homeless and low-income situations with all the necessities they need to thrive.

The show wraps up with Reverend Liz Walker who spent years telling the Boston area about the news and current events as the first African American weeknight Anchor. Now as a senior pastor for the Roxbury Presbyterian Church and board chair for their Social Impact Center, she talks about her most recent work.

The show airs Sunday, May 11, 2014 at 12:00PM on WCVB-TV channel 5.
