Gear Up for Winter
Remember the sensation of wintertime as a kid? Bundling up to build a snowman. Wishing for days off from school. Crunching snow beneath your boots. For families in need, however, a Massachusetts winter can be debilitating. No child should have to wait at the bus stop in below-freezing temperatures without warm clothing.
Our Gear Up for Winter initiative supplies warm winter gear to children in homeless or low-income situations who are not prepared for the cold weather. This initiative includes our signature volunteer event, the annual Un-Gala®, which helps to prepare kids for winter before it becomes an emergency.
We offer a variety of programs during the Giving Season through which our community can support our efforts to keep local children safe and warm. Whether you’re at home, out doing holiday shopping, or at work, there’s a way to get involved and help with Cradles to Crayons. The warm layers and outerwear you help us provide will be a critical lifeline in the face of harsh winter weather and childhood poverty.
No child should have to face the cold of winter without appropriate clothing, whether they’re inside or outdoors. Get involved and make a tangible difference for children across Massachusetts!
We work with families, individuals, community groups, and companies to serve over 145,000 children every year in Massachusetts. We depend on volunteers to make this important work possible.

The Difference We're Making
Our whole focus is to make our collaborative process as easy and streamlined as possible. This helps us to empower the children you serve at home, at school, and at play by providing the everyday essentials that match their individual needs.
In the News
We host special events and activities throughout the year in our Giving Factory and in local communities to enable community groups, families, and businesses to support our mission and help neighbors in need.
