From Jan. 21 to Feb. 5, a pajama drive was held at The Goddard School located in Morgantown, and at 26 other Goddard Schools in the area. The schools worked with the Flyers Wives, a long-standing charity group within the Philadelphia Flyers organization, to collect more than 1,500 new sets of pajamas for children in need.

The pajamas were presented to the Pajama Program on Wednesday, Feb. 10 at the Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, New Jersey. The mission of this group is to provide new pajamas to children in need nationwide.

The children and teachers recognize the significance of giving back and being a part of their community through aiding those less fortunate. At The Goddard School, laying the foundation to good citizenship is fostered through the development of four essential skills: friendship, compassion, cooperation and kindness.

“Teaching young children to help others creates a foundation for character development by building a strong sense of self, the importance of caring for others and an awareness of their ability to influence the world in positive ways,” said Bonnie Karwat, on-site owner of The Goddard School located in Morgantown. “We are proud to continue validating for the children the value of goodwill and caring for others.”

Karwat explained that the School is also involved in other forms of community service as well.

“The Goddard School actively participates in sponsorships and outreach programs including Toys for Tots, Cradles to Crayons and our local food drives within our community,” she said.
