President & CEO of Horizons for Homeless Children joins Boston Board

Cradles to Crayons® is proud to announce the election of Kate Barrand to its Boston Board of Directors. President & CEO of Horizons for Homeless Children, Barrand is passionate about improving the lives of vulnerable children and families. She joins the Board with broad experience spanning early education, technology, finance and nonprofit.  

Based in Boston since 2002, Cradles to Crayons has since launched sites in Philadelphia and Chicago, expanding its reach to children and families facing Clothing Insecurity and providing them with gently used clothing, books, school supplies, and toys. The organization intends to serve 147,500 children in Massachusetts this year, with approximately half of these children being Boston residents.

Barrand joined Horizons for Homeless Children as CEO in 2015, and within three years she has enhanced the organization’s programs through innovative partnerships and established a financially sustainable model. Under her leadership, Horizons also initiated a capital campaign for the Horizons Center, a unique public/private joint venture aiming to transform the education and health of at-risk children and families in Boston. Prior to her role with Horizons, Barrand contributed as a strategy consultant and operating manager in the finance and technology sectors, working with C-suite and executive teams of financial institutions, Fortune 500 companies, and nonprofit organizations. Barrand was also the Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Clareon Corporation, the first online business-to-business payment engine sanctioned by the US Treasury following her time at BankBoston leading Strategic Planning and Global Strategic Marketing. Kate holds a BA in Early Childhood Development from the Eliot-Pearson Department at Tufts University and an MBA from Boston University. 

Barrand currently resides in Beverly with her husband and enjoys spending time with her three grown children.
